Car Reviews 2011 Audi A3

The 2011 Audi A3 comes in a number of different flavors for 2011 with power coming from either a 2.0 liter 200 horsepower/207 lb. feet of torque turbocharged gasoline 4-cylinder as in the model tested here or with a 2.0 liter 140 horsepower/236 lb. feet of torque 4-cylinder turbodiesel motor. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed DSG double clutch automatic which is also available with Quattro all-wheel drive. Diesel models come only with front drive and the DSG automatic. The vehicle driven here came in top of the line S-Line trim with the aggressive looking Titanium package which includes ominous looking 18-inch smoked alloy wheels, a sport suspension, suede/alcantara sport seats and very expensive looking piano black interior trim. Completing the sporty feel of this red 2011 Audi A3 2.0T was a perfectly weighted and delightful to operate six-speed manual transmission. The gas powered, turbocharged 4-cylinder also comes equipped with state of the art direct injection and offers up plenty of accelerative thrust even from stop lights with 0-60 coming up in 7.1 seconds. The steering, while somewhat light, offers up plenty of feel and makes corner carving on your favorite twisty two lane roads a true delight. The ride over long distances even with the sport suspension and bigger wheels also proved very comfortable and in sixth gear the engine hums along in near silence. The sport seats also proved to be very comfortable all the while still hugging you in place during spirited driving maneuvers. Overall, this is one fun to drive hot hatch as it should be considering a lot of the running gear is based on the excellent VW GTI. The interior of the 2011 Audi A3 is roomy enough to accommodate 4 adults comfortably and cargo room is commodious with 19.5 cubic feet behind the rear seats and an SUV rivaling 39 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. The only thing is, the 2011 Audi A3 may have the utility of an SUV but it sure as heck doesn’t drive like one. There’s just no way to drive the A3 without winding up with a big huge grin on your face. Fuel economy is also excellent with this engine and transmission combination with EPA estimates of 21 city/30 highway with this particular model returning an average of 24.2 miles per gallon over a week of mixed driving conditions.
